The Three Feathers

A king had three sons, and he wanted to choose the wisest one to inherit his throne.

He called them together and gave each one a feather, telling them to follow the direction of the feather to find the most precious thing in the world.

The two elder brothers set off immediately, eager to prove themselves worthy of the throne.

They journeyed quickly, following the paths that led them to the wealthiest cities and the grandest treasures they could find.

The youngest brother, often seen as foolish by his siblings, hesitated.

He believed that something more than gold or jewels could be found, so he decided to take his time and follow his feather more carefully.

The feather led him deep into a dark forest, where he faced numerous obstacles.

He encountered wild animals, treacherous weather, and difficult challenges.

Yet, instead of fighting or turning back, he chose to help those in need.

One day, while resting by a river, he saved a small bird trapped in a net.

The bird thanked him and promised to guide him further on his journey.

With the bird’s guidance, he found his way to a wise old man who lived alone in the forest.

The old man tested the young brother, asking him to answer riddles and solve problems.

After several trials, the old man revealed the true treasure: wisdom and kindness.

He told the youngest brother that material wealth would fade, but wisdom and kindness would last forever.

The young brother, now filled with understanding, thanked the old man and returned home.

On his way back, he helped more people along the way, earning their respect and friendship.

When he returned to the kingdom, he was greeted warmly by the people.

The two elder brothers returned shortly after, laden with treasures, but they were empty-handed in terms of wisdom or kindness.

The king listened to each of his sons and saw that the youngest brother’s heart was filled with wisdom and kindness.

He declared him the new ruler, teaching everyone that a kind heart and wisdom were far more valuable than all the wealth in the world.

The youngest brother ruled with fairness and compassion, and his kingdom prospered.

The two elder brothers, realizing their mistake, learned to value wisdom over material wealth, and they too became wise rulers in their own lands.
