狐狸和葡萄
The Fox and the Grapes

A hungry fox wandered through a vineyard, looking for something to eat.
一只饥饿的狐狸徘徊在葡萄园里,寻找食物。

He spotted a cluster of ripe, juicy grapes hanging high on a vine.
他看见一串熟透了、汁液饱满的葡萄挂在高高的藤上。

Eager to taste them, the fox leaped and jumped, trying to reach the grapes.
狐狸急切地想尝一尝,于是蹦跳起来,试图够到葡萄。

Despite his best efforts, the grapes were just out of his reach.
尽管尽了最大努力,葡萄仍然离他太远,够不着。

Frustrated and exhausted, the fox finally gave up.
感到沮丧又疲惫的狐狸最终放弃了。

He walked away, muttering to himself, "Those grapes are probably sour anyway."
他边走边自言自语:“那些葡萄可能本来就是酸的。”

Moral: People often belittle what they cannot achieve to soothe their disappointment.
寓意:人们常为无法得到的事物寻找借口以安慰自己。
