"You let your chicken feathers fly everywhere! I had to sweep all morning!"
“你家鸡毛满地飞，害我扫了半天！”
"You let your garlic skins float around! My house is a mess!"
“你家蒜皮到处飘，弄得我家乱七八糟！”
They argued and refused to back down.
他们互相指责，谁也不肯让步。
One day, their quarrel turned into a fight, and both got hurt.
有一天，两人的争吵变成了打斗，双双受伤。
Finally, they took their dispute to the county magistrate.
最后，他们闹上了县衙，请县官评理。
After hearing their complaints, the magistrate sighed.
县官听完后，叹了口气。
"Are such trivial matters worth fighting over?"
“这点鸡毛蒜皮的小事，也值得打架？”
As punishment, he ordered both to be beaten ten times.
他罚两人各挨十大板，让他们回家反省。
After suffering, they realized they had been too petty.
两人吃了苦头，终于意识到自己太计较了。
From then on, they stopped arguing over small things and lived peacefully.
从那以后，他们不再为小事争吵，和睦相处。
