Once, in a village, there lived a man named Li Ming.
Li Ming was very lazy and didn’t want to do anything.
Every day, he just lay in bed, and meals were brought to him.
The elders in the village often advised him, saying, "Young man, you should work hard."
But Li Ming just smiled, thinking he was living a good life.
One day, the village held a competition with a big sack of rice as the prize.
Li Ming thought he could easily win, so he decided to join.
The competition was to see who could run to the mountain top and grab the flag the fastest.
Everyone got ready, and the race began.
At first, Li Ming ran slowly and even stopped to eat a few bites of food.
The other participants raced quickly towards the mountain top.
By the time Li Ming reached the top, everyone else had already grabbed the flag and returned.
Li Ming looked confused and asked, “Why did everyone run so fast?”
The elder shook his head and sighed, saying, "This shows your attitude. You really don't understand."
Li Ming didn’t win the race and didn’t get the rice.
He finally realized that laziness and lack of effort would only make him fall behind.
From then on, he started working hard and no longer just ate, slept, and lazed around.
Although he always felt he wasn't the smartest, he learned to put in effort.
