Golden Rules and Jade Laws

During the Three Kingdoms period, Zhuge Liang, the Prime Minister of Shu, valued the law.

He believed that clear rules were necessary for long-term stability.

One day, an official asked him how to manage the army.

Zhuge Liang said, "Military law must be strict and cannot be changed easily."

He established a set of military laws that soldiers had to follow.

Someone asked, "Prime Minister, can these rules be adjusted sometimes?"

Zhuge Liang shook his head and said, "Military law is like unbreakable rules."

One day, one of his trusted aides broke a military rule.

According to the law, he should be punished, but many people pleaded for him.

Zhuge Liang firmly said, "The law applies to everyone equally."

Without hesitation, he enforced the punishment without special treatment.

The soldiers saw this and understood the seriousness of the law.

From then on, no one dared to disobey orders, and discipline improved greatly.

Shu's army became more disciplined and powerful.

People admired and said, "The Prime Minister’s rules are truly unbreakable!"

Zhuge Liang smiled and said, "Only strict laws can build a strong nation."

Later, his military discipline became a model for future generations.

"Unbreakable law" means good rules should not be broken easily.

A true system must be fair and just to earn people’s respect.
