Once upon a time, a merchant was traveling by boat to a distant place.
He carried a chest of precious jewels and carefully placed it on the boat.
As the boat reached the middle of the river, it suddenly rocked.
The chest was not stable and fell into the river.
The merchant was very anxious and immediately asked the boatman to dive in and retrieve it.
But the river was deep and fast-flowing, and nothing could be seen.
The boatman shook his head and said, “We can’t find it now; we must wait.”
The merchant didn’t understand, “Wait for what? Will the jewels float back up?”
The boatman pointed into the distance and said, “When the water recedes, the chest will appear.”
Though unwilling, the merchant decided to wait patiently.
A few days later, the river water became shallower.
The merchant returned to the riverbank and saw many stones appearing on the riverbed.
To his surprise, his chest was stuck behind a large rock!
He happily pulled it out, and all the jewels were safe.
He sighed, “So it’s true, when the water recedes, everything is revealed.”
The boatman smiled and said, “Some things can’t be rushed. If you wait, the truth will come to light.”
The merchant nodded, understanding the meaning of "the truth will emerge."
