他不杀奴隶,发展生产,改革观念。

Emperor Xin conquered the Eastern Yi and expanded the territory.
帝辛征服了东夷,疆土变得更大。

He promoted agriculture, and the people's lives improved.
他让农业发展,百姓生活越来越好。

But later, Emperor Xin's life became extravagant.
但后来,帝辛的生活变得奢华。

One day, the minister Ji Zi saw Emperor Xin using ivory chopsticks to eat.
一天,大臣箕子看见帝辛用象牙筷子吃饭。

Ji Zi thought: Using ivory chopsticks surely meant no more clay bowls.
箕子心想:用象牙筷子,肯定不再用陶土碗。

Next, the chopsticks changed, and the cups and plates must have been upgraded as well.
接着,筷子换了,杯盘也一定会升级。

The food would become better, and rare delicacies would become common.
食物也会变得越来越好,山珍海味会成为常见。

As the food improved, clothes would also become more expensive.
食物变好了,穿的衣服也会变贵重。

When clothes became more expensive, the carriages and houses would become luxurious.
衣服更贵重了,车子和房子也会变得豪华。

Ji Zi was worried that if this continued, the country would become corrupt.
箕子担心,这样下去国家会变得腐败。

After some time, Emperor Xin truly began to pursue luxury.
过了一段时间,帝辛真的开始追求奢华。

He held banquets of "wine lakes and meat forests," and the people suffered greatly.
他举行“酒池肉林”的宴会,百姓非常苦。

He also implemented the "Cao Luo" punishment, causing many people to suffer.
他还实施“炮烙之刑”,让很多人受害。

The country ultimately perished due to Emperor Xin's tyranny.
国家最终因为帝辛的暴政灭亡了。

Emperor Xin is remembered as the "King Zhou" in history, symbolizing a cruel and tyrannical ruler.
帝辛被后人称为“纣王”,意思是残暴的帝王。

Han Feizi said that wise people can spot big problems from small details.
韩非子说,聪明的人能从小细节看出大问题。

So, from small things, we can foresee how things will develop.
所以,从小事中可以看到事物的发展。
