Once upon a time, there was an old dog named Sultan who had served his master faithfully for many years.
从前，有一只名叫苏丹的老狗，忠心耿耿地服侍主人多年。
However, Sultan had grown old and weak, and the farmer decided he was no longer useful.
然而，苏丹年老体弱，农夫认为他再也没有用处了。
“I will shoot Sultan tomorrow,” the farmer said to his wife. “He is of no use to us anymore.”
“明天我要把苏丹枪毙，”农夫对妻子说，“他对我们没用了。”
The farmer’s wife, kinder-hearted, said, “The poor creature has served us well. Let him live his last days in peace.”

But the farmer was resolute. Sultan, overhearing the conversation, was heartbroken.

He went to the forest to seek advice from his old friend, the wolf.

The wolf, moved by Sultan’s plight, devised a clever plan.

“I will pretend to steal your master’s child,” the wolf said, “and you will save him. Your master will think you are a hero.”

The next day, the wolf carried out the plan.

As the farmer’s child played in the yard, the wolf pretended to snatch him away.

Sultan sprang into action, barking and chasing the wolf.

The wolf pretended to struggle before letting the child go, and Sultan returned the child safely.

The farmer, moved by Sultan’s bravery, changed his mind.

Sultan lived out his days in peace, respected by the farmer and his family for his loyalty and wisdom.
