Once upon a time, there was an honest woodcutter who lived near a river.
从前，有一个诚实的樵夫住在一条河边。
One day, while chopping wood by the riverbank, he accidentally dropped his axe into the water.
一天，他在河岸边砍柴时，不小心把斧头掉进了水里。
He tried to reach it but the current was too strong.
他试着捞起斧头，但水流太急。
Desperate and upset, he sat down and began to cry.
他无能为力，绝望地坐下哭了起来。
Suddenly, a god appeared before him.
突然，一位神仙出现在樵夫面前。
The god asked, “Why are you crying, woodcutter?”
神仙问：“樵夫，你为什么哭？”
The woodcutter explained his situation, and the god decided to help him.
樵夫讲述了自己的困境，神仙决定帮助他。
He dove into the water and soon emerged holding a golden axe.
他跳入水中，很快拿出了一把金斧头。
The god asked, “Is this your axe?”
神仙问：“这是你的斧头吗？”
The woodcutter looked at the golden axe and said, “No, it isn’t mine.”
樵夫看着金斧头说：“不是，它不是我的。”
The god then went back into the water and came out with a silver axe.
神仙又跳入水中，拿出了银斧头。
He asked again, “Is this your axe?”
继续问：“这是你的斧头吗？”
The woodcutter shook his head again. “No, this one is not mine either.”
樵夫摇了摇头：“也不是，这个也不是我的。”
Finally, the god dove into the water for a third time and emerged with the woodcutter’s own axe.
最后，神仙第三次跳入水中，拿出了樵夫自己的斧头。
The god asked, “Is this your axe?”
问：“这是你的斧头吗？”
The woodcutter looked at it and smiled. “Yes, this is mine.”
樵夫看了看，笑了：“是的，这是我的。”
The god was impressed with the woodcutter’s honesty and rewarded him.
神仙对樵夫的诚实感到佩服，并奖赏了他。
He gave the woodcutter all three axes: the golden, the silver, and his own axe.
他把金斧头、银斧头和樵夫的斧头都送给了他。
The woodcutter was grateful and returned home, never forgetting the lesson of honesty.
樵夫感激不尽，回到家后，始终铭记着诚实的教训。
