The Monkeys Catching the Moon

One quiet night, a group of monkeys played in the forest under the light of the full moon.

Suddenly, one monkey looked into a well and shouted, "The moon has fallen into the water!"

The other monkeys gathered around and saw the moon’s reflection in the well.

They panicked, thinking the moon was drowning and needed to be saved.

The monkeys quickly formed a chain, with one holding onto a tree branch and others linking tails and arms.

The monkey at the bottom reached out to grab the moon’s reflection.

But as soon as they touched the water, it rippled, and the moon seemed to disappear.

Shocked, they cried out, "The moon is gone!"

Just then, one monkey looked up and saw the real moon shining brightly in the sky.

Laughing, he exclaimed, "The moon is not in the water—it’s up there all along!"

The monkeys realized their mistake and climbed back to the trees, wiser from their foolish attempt.

The story teaches us to think carefully before taking action and to verify the truth of what we see.
